Working with LGBTQ+ Young People Forum

May 21 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Online information session following the Supreme Court ruling on the definition of ‘sex’ in the Equality Act.

In response to the recent Supreme Court Ruling about the definition of the term ‘sex’ in the Equality Act of 2010, SAYiT are hosting an online information session about what the ruling means, how it can be interpreted and what are the next steps. This session is suitable for professionals in Sheffield working with young people.

There will be a 30-minute presentation and then time for questions. The situation is complex and evolving and despite the ruling, the Equality Act continues to protect trans people from discrimination under the category of Gender Reassignment. The full implications of the ruling are still being assessed by the EHRC and further guidance from the government is awaited, particularly concerning institutions like schools and colleges.

During this session we are not able to give out legal or medical advice.

Please ensure that you have an up to date Microsoft Teams account and are ready to begin the session at 3:30pm.

Suitable for youth, education and health and social care workers, and anyone else in the voluntary or statutory sectors who supports LGBTQ+ young people in a professional capacity in Sheffield.
