Speaking of Science – Emerging international trends in sex & gender science
Health and medical research provide an evidence base that informs our national health care system. However, when it comes to our health and wellbeing, differences between sex and gender matter and the more consideration that we give to these differences, the more we can improve health outcomes for all Australians.
Having worked on implementation of sex and gender research funding policies in Canada, the United States, the Netherlands and Europe, Dr Cara Tannenbaum is joining us to share the lessons learned and advise on best practices for Australia. This webinar falls under our Speaking of Science series, and will take place on Tuesday 26 November 2024 from 11:00AM to 12:00PM AEDT.
Dr Tannenbaum will discuss the emerging international trends in sex and gender science, coinciding with the recent release of the NHMRC–MRFF joint Statement on Sex, Gender, Variations of Sex Characteristics and Sexual Orientation in Health and Medical Research, an important deliverable in NHMRC’s progress towards gender equity.
There will be an opportunity to engage and ask questions of our inspiring international guest speaker through a thought-provoking Q&A session. You don’t want to miss this one!
Please note that this webinar will be recorded and published to NHMRC’s website afterwards as part of our ‘Speaking of Science’ series.
