Aimed at professionals supporting people with additional needs & disabilities regarding their relationships and sexual health.

Discussing Relationships and Sexual Health with People with Additional Support Needs and Disabilities

This full day interactive workshop is designed for professionals working with people that have additional support needs or disabilities, where it may be appropriate to provide relationships, sex and health education (RHSE), or have discussions around relationships and sexual health. This workshop would be suitable for educational staff delivering RHSE to those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), as well as those working in a care setting where they may be having more informal conversations with those they are supporting around their relationships and sexual health.

The workshop provides a safe space to explore different approaches that can be used to navigate conversations in a way that is non-judgmental, inclusive and that meets the needs of those you are supporting. There will be opportunity to trial some practical resources that can be used in both small group settings and also on a one to one basis, as well as opportunity to discuss some case studies to explore appropriate responses and considerations in a variety of situations. The workshop aims to increase attendees overall confidence in discussing relationships and sexual health, and to have a thorough understanding of the local sexual health service offer in Essex.

This is a newly released workshop therfore the first 10 spaces will be reserved for those that have received an email invitation only, this is to ensure that the workshop is attended by a wide variety of professionals working in both education and care setting to support us to evaluate the programme to ensure it meets the needs of those that it is aimed to support. If you are interested to attend the programme when further spaces are released please email essex@tht.org.uk
