LGBT HERO Pride at Night
Join us this pride month for a unique walking tour exploring LGBTQ+ life and history in Bankside. Join us as we uncover stories of fascinating people and places that have shaped the local queer community through the years.
Located south of the river and beyond the strict rules of the City of London, Bankside has for centuries been home to some of London’s most scandalous activity – a place famed for rowdy taverns, a once thriving sex industry and outrageous entertainment.
Winding through the web of tunnels, bridges and former industrial alleys, we discover forbidden love affairs, the birthplace of London’s very first drag performers, and some exciting new LGBTQ spaces for the future.
The tour is led by performer, curator and tour guide, Mark T Cox.
