HIV Awareness – Breaking down HIV Stigma
HIV stigma and health inequalities create significant barriers to accessing testing, prevention, and care.
As people can live longer, healthier lives with HIV we have seen the number of people with an HIV diagnosis who are aged 50 and over increase in recent years. People living with HIV who are aging and in care homes can face some additional challenges, including lack or outdated understanding of HIV from caregivers or other residents, or isolation.
This training session aims to equip people working in care homes to ensure they have up to date knowledge on HIV and how to best support someone living with HIV in their care, so they may ensure all those that they serve receive the best care possible.
This training programme is designed for professionals working care homes. The training provides an update the basic knowledge surrounding HIV, testing your perceptions, as well as exploring practical approaches which can be easily implemented within your role and service ensuring we all have access to the same health and care.
This session also provides information about accessing local sexual health services.
