Workshop Overview
This interactive workshop is designed for therapists and counsellors working with couples where one partner has committed a sexual offence. Participants will gain practical tools to navigate:
- Fractured trust and relational repair
- Intimacy, sexual difficulties, and consent challenges
- Disclosure dilemmas: children, family, and community
- Navigating external systems: probation, safeguarding, and societal judgment
- Managing shame, guilt, and moral injury
- Therapist self-awareness: boundaries, collusion, and over-identification
Learning Objectives
By the end of the workshop, participants will have considered how to:
- Support both partners in rebuilding trust and managing emotional complexity
- Facilitate safe dialogue around intimacy, disclosure, and boundaries
- Apply strategies to contain shame, fear, and anger
- Navigate external systems ethically while maintaining therapeutic integrity
- Use case vignettes, role-plays, and exercises to enhance practical skills
